Key Responsibilities
- Full end-to-end project management, including cost control and health & safety compliance
- Coordination and oversight of all subcontractors: electrical, automation, civil, and mechanical
- Review and approval of technical designs and drawings
- Oversight of custom switchboard manufacturing and installation
- Client liaison including monthly programme reporting, NTEs, and RFIs
- Delivery of remote control and monitoring systems
- Public engagement & communication with Landowners
- Management of barge operations across Lyttleton Harbour for site access
Complexity Managed
- Restricted Site Access: Due to limited local car parking, beach proximity, and shared driveway access, each site could only be accessed for a maximum of 15 consecutive working days. This required meticulous planning and scheduling to ensure all works were completed within tight windows.
- Sequential Site Possession: Site possession for each subsequent location was only granted upon full Practical Completion (PC) of the previous site. This meant re-establishment could not begin until formal client sign-off, adding pressure to maintain programme timelines.
- Weather-Dependent Logistics: Barge trips across Lyttelton Harbour were subject to last-minute confirmation due to weather conditions, often only being confirmed the day prior. This introduced uncertainty and required flexible coordination with marine operators and subcontractors.
- Hazardous Terrain & Public Interface: Sites were located along narrow public walking tracks with steep cliffs, requiring careful management of pedestrian safety and equipment logistics. Cable installation and excavation works had to be executed with precision in constrained environments
Project Outcomes
The project was successfully completed on time and within budget, with zero incidents or injuries reported throughout the duration. All pump stations have remained fully operational post-handover, with no major concerns raised by the client. The delivery demonstrated strong planning, coordination, and execution under complex site, weather and logistical constraints by Millennium & Sub – Contractors.
